Rock foil season is starting at our perennial farm in South Carolina! Never heard of rock foil? No worries! This little plant doesn't get a lot of attention, but is a fun addition to the early-season garden. It shows off cute, star-shaped flowers in shades of red, pink, and white over soft, ferny foliage.
Gardeners in the Deep South can use rock foil to give their yards a boost of seasonal color. It doesn't mind cool temperatures (regular seasonal temperatures -- not the Polar Vortex type of cold we're experiencing!). It will continue to look good until temperatures start to spike; at that point, replace it with more summery flowers. Rock foil does wonderfully in garden beds and borders, as well as containers. We're especially fond it it along pathways where you can really enjoy its dainty beauty up close.
