Meet Birkin Philodendron

Birkin philodendron has oval-shape variegated leaves with creamy yellow stripes.

Simply stunning! That’s how we describe Birkin Philodendron. (See other beautiful philodendrons here.)

We love this plant because no two leaves are marked the same. Each one of its handsome, oval-shape, variegated leaves is generously marked with creamy-yellow stripes over a rich, dark green background. As an added bonus, Birkin Philodendron sports thick, fleshy, lime-green stems that hold the foliage at attention. It’s an amazing, one-of-a-kind addition to our Philodendron houseplant collection.

These compact beauties add a cheerful burst of color to any room in your house. And, because Birkin loves humid conditions, it’s an especially ideal selection for brightly lit bathrooms and kitchens. Use Birkin singly on a vanity or line up several along a bathtub, sink, or shower.

Birkin Philodendron performs best in bright, indirect light, protected from the direct rays of the sun. If grown in darker conditions, the leaves won’t be as colorful as they should be.  Note: Don’t panic if the new leaves of your plant aren’t variegated. They gain their stripes as they mature.

These easy-care plants like to dry out a bit between waterings and will sulk if forced to grow in wet soil. So it’s a good idea to use your finger to make sure the soil is completely dry before you add water.

Because Birkin is a tropical native, it loves humid conditions, so you might want to set your plant on a shallow, pebble-filled tray filled with water (keep the pot above the waterline). That way, as the water in the tray evaporates it will increase the humidity levels directly around your plant.
