One thing you can say about Joe Pye weed, it's not subtle. This big, bold bloomer dominates the late summer garden with its fantastic dark foliage and white flower heads that attract butterflies from miles around. Joe Pye weed comes in standard forms that can grow 6 feet tall and more compact varieties grow about 3 feet tall. This rugged native perennial is a sun worshipper that loves rich, slightly moist soil. It's super hardy and easy to grow, but Joe Pye weed can spread so plant it where you can control it's bullish behavior. If you have an untamed hillside or meadow, Joe Pye weed can help, quickly taking over unwelcome weeds. Hardy from zones 4-10.
