Monstera Bulbasaur (Monstera deliciosa 'Bulbasaur') is a rare, collector-favorite tropical known for its striking variegation splashed across that classic leaf shape. Each leaf is dappled with irregular patches of cream, white, and light green over a deep, rich background, giving it a pixelated, camo-like pattern that inspired its playful nickname. Monstera deliciosa 'Bulbasaur'

Monstera Bulbasaur is a naturally occurring sport of Monstera deliciosa. It quickly earned its nickname among collectors for the spotted, camo-like variegation that calls to mind the well-known Pokemon character. To preserve its distinctive pattern, it is often propagated through tissue culture for more consistent, stable variegation.
For best growth and variegation, this variety grows best in bright but indirect light. Natural or artificial light both work well. Place it within 2 to 3 feet of feet of an unobstructed east or west-facing window for best results. It tolerates medium light, but growth may slow and the variegation may become less pronounced over time. It can take some gentle early morning sun through a window, particularly in Northern climates, but avoid direct sun after about 9:30–10 am, especially on the lighter variegated areas of the foliage.
In our testing, Monstera Bulbasaur has performed beautifully in our Twist.Lift.Water.™ self-watering system. The water wick pulls moisture up from the reservoir as the plant needs it, helping keep the potting mix evenly moist without becoming overly wet. Just refill the reservoir regularly without overfilling it. If watering traditionally, allow the top 25 to 50 percent of the potting mix to begin drying before watering again. Monsteras generally perform better when allowed to dry moderately between waterings rather than staying constantly wet.
This Monstera grows well in average household temperatures between 65°F and 85°F (18°C to 29°C). Thanks to its tropical origins, it tolerates heat well but does not like cold conditions or chilly drafts. Try to keep it above 60°F/15.5°C for best growth and foliage quality.
While Monstera Bulbasaur adapts reasonably well to average indoor humidity, it appreciates above-average humidity levels if you are able to provide them. Higher humidity can help support larger foliage, cleaner variegation, and better overall leaf quality as the plant matures.
