A Time to Celebrate

Over the last 65 years, Costa Farms has grown from a small family business into one of the largest growing operations in the world.

From our early days growing tomatoes to expanding into houseplants, annuals, and beyond, each chapter has deepened our knowledge and expertise.

Driven by passion, innovation, and a commitment to quality, we continue to grow with purpose.

And we’re just getting started.

Our History

1961 - The Year It Started

Costa Farms was founded by Jose Costa Sr. on 30 acres, where he began growing tomatoes.

In the off-season, he grew calamondin, making the most of the land—an early example of the resourcefulness that still defines how we grow today.

What started as a small family operation laid the foundation for generations of knowledge, care, and dedication to growing.

1965 - The Big Pivot

In 1965, Jose Costa made the move from tomatoes to foliage plants—a decision that would change the direction of Costa Farms.

That shift opened the door to new ways of growing, new opportunities for the business, and a path forward that guides us today.

At that point, the future of Costa Farms truly began to take shape.
