Scindapsus treubii Moonlight Albo

Scindapsus treubii Moonlight Albo is known for its thick, elongated foliage and layered coloration. The leaves combine green and silver tones with white variegation that appears in unpredictable patterns from leaf to leaf. The substantial foliage has a smooth, satin-like surface that gives the plant a polished appearance.
The species behind Moonlight Albo, Scindapsus treubii, was formally named in 1898 and is native to Malaysia, Borneo, and Java. In its wet-tropical setting, it climbs trees and uses them for support. Moonlight Albo shares this climbing nature and can be trained on a plank, trellis, or moss pole or allowed to trail from a raised display. Either approach creates a striking showcase for its green, silver, and white foliage.
Moonlight Albo grows best in bright, indirect light. Natural or artificial light both work well. Place it near an unobstructed east- or west-facing window or provide equivalent light from a plant light. Good light supports strong growth and helps the foliage display its best coloring. It can take some direct morning sun until about 10 a.m. but protect it from harsh afternoon sun.
In our self-watering system, the wick draws moisture from the reservoir into the potting mix as the plant needs it. Refill the reservoir regularly without overfilling it. If watering traditionally, allow the top couple of inches of the potting mix to dry before watering again. Its thick leaves help it handle an occasional missed watering, but it is less forgiving of potting mix that stays overly wet.
Scindapsus treubii Moonlight Albo grows well in warm indoor conditions. Protect it from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes. Average household relative humidity is suitable, though the plant appreciates above-average humidity. In a particularly dry home, place it near other houseplants or use a humidifier to increase the moisture in the surrounding air.
