Jungle Queen (Anthurium 'Jungle Queen')
Jungle Queen Plant Features
Jungle Queen is a newer exotic houseplant that we've fallen in love with it. It's big and bold, but also so easy to grow! Young Jungle Queen plants have a vase-shape (similar to a bird's nest fern) and are gorgeous decorating a desk, tabletop or other surface. The more it grows, the more spectacular it becomes. Older Jungle Queen plants can reach 5 feet or more tall, and keep their cool shape, so they're beautiful as floor plants. Use them as dramatic accents, or to screen the base of a tall lamp or other piece of furniture. One fun aspect of Jungle Queen is that no two plants are exactly the same. In our selection, you'll find types that have foliage variegated with streaks or splashes of white and cream, as well as types that have dark burgundy-purple leaves. A few might even have burgundy leaves with cream, pink, and white variegation!
Jungle Queen Growing Instructions
While they're exotic, the best part of Jungle Queen as a houseplant is that it's easy to grow! Jungle Queen tolerates low, medium, and bright light well. It does best when protected from too much direct sun indoors, especially during the afternoon hours. A sheer curtain in an especially window should be enough to diffuse the light enough for Jungle Queen to thrive.Water Jungle Queen when the top inch or so of the potting mix is dry. This houseplant tolerates drought fairly well, so it doesn't mind if you forget to water it from time to time.
If you wish to fertilize your Jungle Queen to encourage faster growth, you can do so with any general-purpose houseplant fertilizer. Be sure to follow the directions on the product packaging for application rates and frequency. If you don't want your plant to grow as quickly, you don't need to fertilize regularly. Once or twice a year in spring or summer is typically enough to keep it happy.
