Liatris Plant Features

A North American native perennial, liatris, occasionally called gayfeather or blazing star, can take a lot of abuse. It's drought tolerant and can thrive in a variety of less-than-ideal soil conditions. Liatris is prized for its tall, stately spikes of pink or white flowers that appear throughout the summer. Butterflies love liatris, too so be sure to include some in your garden to satisfy your winged neighbors. Liatris grows 2 to 3 feet tall so it's ideal for the back of the border where it's flower spikes will stand out. Liatris is also relatively deer resistant.  Hardy from zones 3-9.

Liatris Growing Instructions

Plant liatris in a sunny spot that receives at least 6 to 8 hours of sun a day. The plants prefer a fertile, well-drained soil, but will perform almost as well on poorer soil. Water only when the soil feels dry to the touch.

Liatris is not recommended for human or animal consumption.
