Monstera lechleriana Albo (Monstera lechleriana Albo-Variegata)
Monstera lechleriana Albo Plant Features
Monstera lechleriana Albo is a stunning variegated climbing/trailing houseplant that features medium green leaves variegated with creamy white. Like many other Monstera varieties, it’s a low-maintenance, easy-care plant that grows well in average indoor conditions.
A close relative of Monstera adansonii, M. lechleriana Albo enjoys climbing a wall, moss pole, or other structure. If you allow it to climb, the leaves will grow noticeably larger and, in time, develop fenestrations (holes) in the leaves. It is much slower to show off these holes than M. adansonii. Give it time and room to climb and it can grow more than 6 feet long with good growing conditions (though you can prune it if you would like to keep it smaller).

Monstera lechleriana Albo Growing Instructions
Light Needs for Monstera lechleriana Albo
Keep this climbing houseplant growing its best by giving it a spot in medium to bright light. Your plant should cast a medium or strong shadow throughout the day. While this variegated houseplant enjoys bright light, it can survive in low light conditions. Without bright light, though, it will not be as full or as lush. Tip: It does not require sunlight to thrive. It grows well under natural or artificial light sources.
Water Needs for Monstera lechleriana Albo
Like many other aroids (plants in the arum family, like Pothos and Philodendron), this vine can sensitive to overwatering. If you’re watering the traditional way, allow the top couple of inches of the potting mix to dry in between waterings. If you use the Wick & Grow self-watering system, water only by adding moisture to the reservoir and be sure you never overfill the reservoir.
If it’s getting too much or too little water, you may see its leaves go yellow and drop prematurely.
Humidity Needs of Monstera lechleriana Albo
This variegated climbing houseplant loves above-average relative humidity levels. Happily, it tolerates average and even low-humidity conditions (45 percent or more relative humidity). If you want to boost relative humidity levels for your Monstera, group it with other houseplants, grow it in a large terrarium or display case.
Fertilizing Monstera lechleriana Albo
Fertilize this easy-care houseplant in the spring and summer months, if you wish, with a fertilizer formulated for use on houseplants. Just be sure to follow the directions on the product packaging. Never apply more fertilizer than the instructions recommend.
Pruning Monstera lechleriana Albo
You shouldn't need to prune your Monstera unless you want to control its size or keep it full and bushy as it matures. In both cases, simply pinch off the new growth. This makes it develop side shoots.
