Plant Bio

Scindapsus perakensis

Scindapsus perakensis is a gorgeous species native to areas of Borneo, Sumatra, Malaysia, and Thailand. Though first described in 1893, this gem of a plant hasn’t been widely available except to collectors. When our Plant Hunter found it, he knew he had to give it a try—and happily, it’s tested well, proving to be an easy-growing houseplant in average home conditions!

This leafy legend thrives in medium to bright light, like a spot about 3 feet away from a good-sized east or west window. Don't worry if your space is a little dimmer, it'll still grow, but just might be a tad slower and show some extra stem (think longer stretches between those beautiful leaves). Keeping your Scindapsus perakensis hydrated is a breeze! Just wait for the top quarter to half of the potting mix to dry out before giving it a drink. Or if you use the self-watering system, just add water as the reservoir empties (but take care never to overfill the reservoir). Average room temperatures and humidity are perfectly fine for this low-maintenance climber, so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

Note: This plant may have some natural degree of toxicity and may cause discomfort or illness if ingested. Additionally, exposure to the sap of this plant may cause discomfort to individuals with a sensitivity to it upon contact. Grown for ornamental purposes and not intended for human or animal consumption.
